The 5-star Hôtel Vagabond is tastefully designed by Jacques Garcia, famous for his designs for hotels around the globe, including Hotel Costes in Paris and most recently Nomad in New York. Housed in a much-localized art deco of ‘shophouse’ building, stepping foot into Hôtel Vagabond and a very contrasting Garcia’s signature style becomes evident. You are transported from old school Jalan Besar into an immersive space reminiscent of a French saloon. Expect decadent and most opulent finishes here.

The minute you step through the doors, you are transported to a world of 5-star luxury and sophistication. A gold elephant grace the hotel lobby while opulent furnishings and a rich colour palette of golds, reds and purples feature throughout the 5-star hotel. It’s quirky but not kitschy, especially the reception desk which took the form of a golden rhino. Every nook and cranny of Hôtel Vagabond are filled with pops of daring colours and bespoke furnishings. The hotel is busy with art in every corner, but all tied together nicely.

    SUMMARY

The 5-star Hôtel Vagabond Singapore, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel is a marvellous and unique luxury boutique hotel. Intricate designs can be found in every corner, creating an immersive experience that unexpectedly transports you from the usually modernised lifestyles in Singapore. And yet, Hôtel Vagabond sits on the doorstep of old Singapore. This creates a nice juxtaposition for guests.

This is definitely a 5-star hotel that appeals very much to young people, creative people or fans of art, and business travellers who want something a little cosier and with more character. It’s probably not suitable for families, or if you require frills like a big buffet and swimming pool. It’s otherwise a great hotel.
